fly by fall: october

I'm not so sure Dylan was completely awake when he opened a big box of presents from Nanny and Grandpa Sam. Here's his new Patriots football. He was excited about it. Really, he was!

Here are Dylan and Grandpa Gibson on Dylan's first rollercoaster ride. He loved it and asked to ride it again and again.

We spent an afternoon in the New Haven area with my parents and my sister's family. The Peabody museum has dinosaur fossils and lots of other interesting stuff for the little boys to look at. As you can see on Dylan's shirt (a favorite that he's worn A LOT during the fall), he loves dinosaurs so this outing was especially fun for him and for his cousin, Jeremiah. After our museum excursion, we took a little detour to Ikea and treated ourselves to $1 ice cream cones. Mmm....

That was our month in pictures. Now for a little summary...

October was another busy month.

Actually, with a couple children, when is a mom not busy?

We took a family trip up to CT to see the babies which was a lot of fun. Jon had an opportunity to speak at his dad's church during that weekend. The boys did very well during the road trip and that trip made me thankful for several things in particular: EZ Pass, Starbucks drive-thru, portable dvd player, portable toddler potty, no traffic on the GWB, and baby wipes.

Our big boy celebrated his third birthday (and I celebrated my 31st). Unfortunately, on Dylan's birthday I injured my foot by falling over a baby gate with Dylan in my arms. I spent the better part of the day at the walk-in clinic, then at the orthopedist's office. Later, we enjoyed a nice family dinner of pepperoni pizza (Dylan's favorite) followed by an awesome Spiderman cake made by one of our friends here in Virginia.

Dylan went to a carnival with his grandparents and rode a rollercoaster for the very first time....and then a couple more times after that at a carnival at the elementary school where Jon grew up in Darien. He had a blast!

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. For starters, Dylan actually kept his costume on without crying. Tucker did, too, but this was not a big surprise (their very different personalities are so fun to see). This was the first year Dylan actually understood what we were doing when we went trick-or-treating. His excitement was so fun for Jon and me to observe. The "three's" have been off to an extremely fun start!
